Google unveils Pixel 3, 3 XL, Pixel Slate, Home Hub

This time, every year tech giants announce their most innovative hardware lineups to catch up the busy holiday shopping season. Alphabet subsidiary Google unveiled couple of its hardware devices today including a new smartphone. Here are some details:

Pixel 3 and 3 XL

The Pixel 2 was a good device. It grabbed good attention too. Banking on its success Google announced today the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Both sports large screen, 5.5 inches and 6.3 inches respectively, and come equipped with wireless charging. Both the devices are powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 processor and to be shipped with Android 9 Pie, which comes with new Digital Wellbeing app of Google.

In terms of data security both the smartphones feature a new Titan M security chip. Pixel 3 has been tagged at $799 while its taller sibling to cost $899. The search engine giant has partnered with Verizon as exclusive carrier, but unlocked version of the two can also be purchased from the market.

Pixel Slate

Here comes the first Chrome OS tablet, the Pixel Slate, and it is said to compete with Apple’s iPad Pro and Surface Pro of Microsoft. The tablets are basically positioned as laptop replacements and lately it is seen the demand for Android tablets have declined. However, the Chrome OS device is to lure particularly the education segment with its massive catalog of content.

The device sports 12.3-inch screen and designed to perfectly work with a keyboard, a separate $200 Pixel Slate accessory. It will also be accompanied with a Pixelbook Pen stylus that would cost additional $99.

Home Hub

Google Home Mini was the best-selling smart speaker in the second quarter. It defeated Amazon’s Echo Dot too. Now, a new Google Home Hub has been unveiled. It is a smart speaker with a 7-inch display and claimed to be hub for all the smart-home gadgets.

However, unlike Amazon’s product and other rivals it lacks a camera to avoid putting cameras all over the home. So, users cannot make video calling with it. The base price of Google Home Hub is $149.
